Park on the grass verge on the left hand side of the A593 as you head towards Broughton-in-Furness from the T junction in Torver. Grid ref: SD278937. Meeting time 10.00. We will be looking for a range of birds less regularly seen on the Society's home patch, such as whinchat, cuckoo, redstart, and breeding redpoll. The site also contains a good range of flowering plants, and gives lovely views of the Lakeland Fells.

Cancelled due to poor weather forecast.
Visit to Julia Piggott’s Bee Reserve at Brigsteer followed by walk to NT wetland reserve with Rob Pocklington. Meet WI at 10.00am or Helsington Church 10:30am (SD488889)
The morning will be spent with Julia Piggot and after lunch on her property we will meet Rob Pocklington on the Brigsteer to Levens road. He will take us down to the hide overlooking the new wetland area. After this we will make our way back to Julia’s. She has offered to give us tea and scones before making our way back to the cars. There is therefore some descending and ascending in the afternoon over steepish ground. Note Friday morning’s forecast not looking good, so this trip may have to be cancelled and re-arranged next year. Refer to the website before setting off.
