Martindale Red Deer Rut

Walk up the valley to see red deer and any migrant birds

From Pooley Bridge take the road to Howtown on the southern side of Ullswater, go through Howtown and up the steepish road towards Martindale, you will come to St Peter’s Church and car park below Hallin fell, carry on along the road and then turn left and follow road until you come to St Martindale old Church, parking is just off the road, spaces are limited so please park carefully.

South Walney

South Walney reserve to view winter birds and grey seal pups. John Webb & Mike Johnson

Introductory talk from the warden then a walk round the reserve to view birds and the seals as high tide approaches at 14.15pm.

Please note entry is free for Wildlife trust members, £3 charge for non-members.

From Barrow follow signs to Vickerstown and South Walney ,just over the bridge take the left along promenade and continue on this road , you will pass the houses on the left then come to a bay, take the next left down Carr lane should be signposted south Walney reserve follow this road till you come to the reserve car park on your right.

Pre Christmas Lunch Walk 10.00am Silverdale Hotel Thurs 16th Dec

Please be ready for a walk at 10.00am outside the Silverdale Hotel.

Bring a drink and snack if you wish. Boots recommended as it will be muddy.

The forecast looks fine at the moment.

We intend to walk towards Jenny Brown’s point via Jack Scout and return via Woodwell

High tide is 8.3m at 09.30am, so it will be falling but still quite high.

We intend to return to the Silverdale hotel in time for lunch which is 12.30 for 1.00.

Fleetwood High Tide Bird Watching

Car Park at Fleetwood, off Princes Way, the coast road

(SD 31868 48004) (What 3 Words location worldwide.plump.suspend), 10.30am. The car park is at North end of Golf course in Fleetwood. On OS map look for “Lookout Station”

We will walk to Lookout Station at Rossall Point  (opens at 11.00am) (https://www.wyre.gov.uk/rossallpoint)

Weather permitting a walk to Park End bird hide afterwards through Brigsteer woods. The woods are a spectacle at that time of year with wild daffodils.
