Alan Pentecost on lichens visiting local sites.  WI  10.00 -14.00

Sat 7th  pm only

Gordon Fletcher/Marine CT on Heysham foreshore.  Meet WI 13.30 or Heysham public CP(Main St/Barrows La) at 14.00. Walking shoes/wellies. Shallow trays & eyeglass  useful for finds inspections.

Thu 12th

Hutton Roof and Dalton Crags with Bryan Yorke.  WI   10.00. Meeting point at Plain Quarry CP Dalton Lane, Hutton Roof.  102.5 (SD552762) finish 14.30

Dorset Residential Field Trip May 

Fri 27th Summer migrants in Borrowdale with Peter Moreton. 5 mile walk with some easy  climbing.  09.00 from WI.  Or 10.30 meeting in centre of Grange,Borrowdale. PM

Witherslack Woods and Howe Ridding.  WI at 09.30 or at CP 1m north of Witherslack village, adjacent to entrance  to Witherslack Hall School 10.00

Hodbarrow – David Talbot WI 09.30 or Hodbarrow bird hide,10.45 at SD174780  

Wed 15th

Large Heath follow up walk to winter talk with Reuben Neville at Heysham then Winmarleigh.  Leave WI at 10.00 or Heysham at 10.30    

Wed 22nd  eve

Evening tour of Arnside swift nests with Peter Moreton.   Meet Arnside Educational Institute car park at 20.30 to finish 22.30.          

Mon 27th

Jan Wiltshire and Scout Scar 3-4m walk. WI 10.30 or 11.00 St. Johns Church, Helsingham (SD488 889)       

Tues 5th

CWT Waitby Greenriggs with Alan Gendle then Smardale. WI 09.30 or Waitby Greenriggs (NY757086  see CWT website) at 10.20. Parking very limited.

Wed 13th   eve

Evening at Magstone Wood, Silverdale, with owners, Roger and Natalia Walton – Arboretum, Mining and Walled Garden. Meet WI 19.15 or Hazelwood Lodge, Hollins Lane 19.30 (SD469745)                    

Wed 20th

Bogs in Cumbria with Tania Crockett. Trip to Bolton Fell Moss nr Carlisle (AM) followed by optional trip to CWT Gosling Sike with Longhorn Cattle (PM) (boots/wellies needed). Meet WI 09.00        

Thu 28th  am only

Brian Hugo on Hoverflies. Meet WI 10.00 or Myers allotment (The Row SD475750) at 10.15.

Hedgehogs evening with Frances “Tiggywinkle”  Clements – 19.45 at 19 Hazel Wood, Silverdale.

Staff from South Lakes River Trust on the River Leven looking at eels. Meet WI 10.00 or NT Fell Foot CP at 10.40.       

Mon 22nd

Red squirrels, flora and fauna around Formby.  WI 09.30 or NT kiosk, Victoria Road, Formby at 11.00.   Rachel Miller LWT squirrel officer in morning then Phil Smith on flora and fauna in the afternoon

Fri 2nd 

Autumn Wader Passage with John Webb  WI 10.00 or entrance to Jack Scout(SD460737) at 10.15   

Fri 16th    eve

Moth Evening in Grubbins Wood with Martin Tordoff.  Meet  19.45 in CP at end of New Barns Rd(SD444777).  Parking 50p in honesty box. Bring good torch.

It is recommended that, in the event of adverse weather reports prior to a field trip the leader of the day be contacted. 

Notes for Field Trips

 Field Trips may involve walks of up to 3 miles (c 5 km). If it is known that greater distances are involved this has been shown. Please share cars where possible to minimise parking congestion at sites. The cost of the trip should be divided as agreed by those sharing the car.

 A packed lunch should be taken unless the timing of the trip indicates this to be unnecessary. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.      

No Dogs.
